Why home energy systems exist

Built Around the Problems Home Energy Users Actually Face

Representative family home with rooftop solar and a wall-mounted battery system
01 / SOLAR TIMING

Solar is generated during the day but needed at night.

Store available PV energy for later household use rather than exporting it at low rates.

Home keeping essential lights and appliances running during a grid outage
02 / GRID OUTAGES

Grid outages interrupt essential appliances.

Design a backup circuit around the loads that matter most--refrigerator, lighting, router, medical devices.

03 / COMPATIBILITY

Battery and inverter choices are confusing.

Match voltage, power rating, communication protocol and expansion requirements before purchase to avoid costly mismatches.

04 / FUTURE GROWTH

Future energy needs may grow.

Select a scalable battery architecture where the chosen system supports expansion within its supported series/parallel limits.

System operation modes

How a Home Energy System Works

Illustrative example -- final operation depends on system design, inverter model and configuration.

Daytime -- PV Active

PV powers household loads directly. Surplus energy charges the battery. If PV exceeds both loads and battery capacity, excess may be exported to the grid (where permitted and inverter-configured).

SOLAR PV
BATTERY CHARGING
HOME LOADS

Evening -- Battery Discharge

The battery supplies stored energy to household loads according to inverter settings. Grid supplements if battery state-of-charge reaches the configured minimum.

BATTERY DISCHARGING
HOME LOADS

Grid Outage -- Backup Mode

A compatible inverter with backup switching capability supplies defined essential loads from the battery. The scope of backup depends on inverter model, battery capacity and the loads connected to the backup circuit.

Important: Backup capability depends on inverter model, switching design, battery discharge rate and the total load on the backup circuit. Verify with your installer before purchase.

Off-grid / Generator Input

Off-grid operation and optional generator input depend on the selected inverter model supporting those functions. Proper protection design, PV sizing and generator compatibility must be verified before installation.

Note: Not all inverter models support generator input or full off-grid operation. Confirm the specific model's capabilities with your installer or MOLETONG technical support.

We’ll Help You Match the Right System to Your Home

Tell us what equipment you already have and what you want the system to achieve. We will check voltage, communication protocol and firmware compatibility, then recommend the safest practical path.

PATH 01

Battery + Existing Compatible Inverter

Keep a compatible inverter you already trust and add storage around it. We review the voltage range, communication protocol and firmware version before recommending a battery.

Best for

You already have a compatible grid-tie or hybrid inverter and want to add storage

What we check for you

Battery voltage range · CAN/RS485 protocol · Inverter firmware · BMS communication

PATH 02 · RECOMMENDED

Battery + New Hybrid / Off-Grid Inverter

We match the battery and inverter as one coordinated system, reducing interface risk and giving your installer a clearer commissioning path.

Best for

New installations or full system replacements where battery and inverter are specified together

What we confirm with you

Single-phase vs three-phase · Off-grid or hybrid mode · PV input capacity · Grid voltage/frequency

PATH 03

Six layers of evidence

Compatibility and Installation Matter as Much as Battery Capacity

Confirm battery voltage range, inverter protocol, current limits, protection design, cable sizing, installation environment and local electrical requirements before commissioning.

01

Cell Chemistry & BMS

LFP chemistry selected for thermal stability. Each battery pack includes a BMS managing cell voltage, temperature and current limits within the rated operating window.

02

Protection Design

Overcharge, over-discharge, over-temperature, short-circuit and ground-fault protections are implemented at BMS and system level. Protection scope varies by model.

03

Inverter Compatibility

Communication protocol (CAN/RS485), voltage window and firmware version must be verified against the specific inverter model before installation. Compatibility lists are available on request.

04

Installation Environment

Operating temperature range, ventilation, cable sizing, mounting clearances and proximity to ignition sources must comply with the product installation guide and local electrical codes.

05

Applicable Certifications

Certifications such as IEC 62619, UN 38.3, RoHS and CE apply to specific models. Confirm which certifications apply to the exact model you are specifying. Do not assume all products carry all marks.

06

Commissioning & Local Requirements

Final system safety depends on correct commissioning by a qualified installer following local electrical regulations. MOLETONG provides installation guidance; local compliance is the installer's responsibility.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the battery work with my existing inverter?

Only after verifying the specific model, communication protocol (CAN or RS485), voltage window and firmware version. MOLETONG provides compatibility lists -- check the relevant list for your inverter make and model before purchasing. Do not assume compatibility based on voltage alone.

Can the system power the whole home during an outage?

This depends on the inverter's continuous power rating, the battery's discharge capability, and the total load connected to the backup circuit. A whole-home backup design requires careful load assessment. Most residential installations protect a defined essential-loads circuit rather than the entire home.

Can battery capacity be expanded later?

Expansion is possible within the supported series/parallel limits and architecture of the specific product family. Not all batteries support expansion, and adding capacity beyond the inverter's rated input is not permitted. Confirm expansion limits for your chosen model before designing the initial installation.

Can the system work completely off-grid?

Off-grid operation requires an inverter model that explicitly supports off-grid mode, correct PV and battery sizing for the expected load profile, appropriate protection design, and -- where used -- a compatible generator input. Confirm the specific inverter model's off-grid capabilities before specifying.

What warranty applies to MOLETONG home energy products?

Five-year warranty language appears in brochure materials for several products in the home energy range. The exact warranty period, coverage scope and claims process depend on the specific model and the applicable terms at the time of purchase. Confirm the warranty terms for your chosen model with your MOLETONG contact or distributor.

What certifications do the products hold?

Applicable certifications -- such as IEC 62619, UN 38.3, RoHS and CE -- vary by product model and target market. Do not assume all products carry all marks. Request the certification documentation for the specific model you are specifying.

Is the system suitable for a villa, small commercial building or remote site?

MOLETONG home energy products are primarily designed for residential use. For larger loads, three-phase supply requirements or commercial-scale storage, the commercial and industrial product range is more appropriate. Discuss your specific application with MOLETONG to confirm the right product family.
